Kyo Sa Nim Mario Palazuelo Visit to Region 2 - Perth

During July 2010, Region 2 was privileged to have a guest from the Philippine Moo Duk Kwan – Kyo Sa Nim Mario Palazuelo visit our Kardinya Dojang. Kyo Sa Nim Palazuelo is an expert in the field of short stick and knife attack/defence techniques so he was invited to conduct classes and a workshop for Region 2 MDK members.
On Sunday 4th July, KSN Palazuelo conducted a short stick seminar that included the 1st Gups and Dans of Region 2. During this seminar, members learnt basic short stick skills as well as offensive and defensive knife techniques. Partner work was also a strong emphasis for KSN Palazuelo teaching us to ‘move out of the line’ by stepping 45 degrees and ‘sticky hands’ which was the essence of being connected to your partner or attacker.  1st Gups and Dans were able to go through Antas 1 (Level 1) of the short stick techniques. This included sais teros, sais defensa, ‘number 13’ and ikis sinawali techniques.
After a commendable seminar, to end such a great day, seminar attendants had dinner at the local MDK  Noodle House. Members we able to meet KSN Palazuelo personally and ask questions, and learn more about his training in Davao, Philippines.
Overall, KSN Palazuelo’s trip was successful as it was well attended and received. Region 2 members enjoyed participating in his classes and seminar and are very grateful for his time and effort in Perth.
